Garden lighting
When the night draws in and the sun goes down most barbecue parties head inside. With the aid of a little garden lighting though, your party can keep going and going - until the sun appears again if you like! Here we put the spotlight on outdoor lighting solutions.
Mirage Victorian Gas Lamp (right)
Garden lighting works on two levels. Firstly, perhaps most importantly, it means you can see what you're eating and that you don't have to guess who just asked you to pass the barbecue sauce.
Secondly though, it can establish mood and atmosphere within the confines of your outdoor space - take the Mirage Victorian Gas Lamp as a prime example.
An intriguing focal point even when it's switched off, this Mirage is a charming, highly realistic interpretation of a victorian street lamp. It's far less contemporary than its Mirage stable-mates the Curve and the Heat 'n' Light, making it ideal for rustic, country gardens.
The light output is adjustable, so you can even tailor the atmosphere to your liking - and the gas lamp will run for as much as 50 hours on just one Calor cylinder.
It costs just £135 from the Calor BBQ Shop
Weber Lunette Light (right)
Costing less than £15 each, Weber Lunette lights are affordable and fun outdoor lighting. They are also far more versatile than the vast majority of garden lighting options - they can be placed either on the ground to illuminate pathways or on tables to shed some light on your meal.
These futuristic little lights are battery operated and will last for up to 15 hours on one set of four. With no wires and cords to worry about they really are ultra-portable, giving a bright and cosy glow wherever you decide to house them.
Available from the Calor BBQ Shop
Kemper Citronella Lamp
The Kemper Citronella Lamp gives an atmospheric flicker of light and serves to keep pesky bugs at bay.
It won't illuminate the whole garden, but it will at least let you see who's talking to you - and the patented citronella mixture concealed with in its Terracotta base gives off a scent that puts midges, flies and bugs well off the idea of approaching your table. Of course to the human nose it's a perfectly pleasant, fresh, lemony smell.
Costing just £25 each, these little lamps won't break the bank - Citronella refills are also available from the BBQ Shop too.
