BBQ thermometers reviewed
When you've slaved over a hot barbecue to produce what you think is a prime steak, it's not nice to cut into it and find it's redder than your blushing face. It's even worse to cut into it and discover that you can, in fact, only just cut into it.
With the right cooking though - and a little helping hand - you can create a truly memorable, sumptuous steak.
There are a number of ancient methods which claim to help tell when food is properly cooked. But if you don't believe it has anything to do with the flesh between thumb and forefinger, the way the wind's blowing or the date of the last full moon - we suggest you get your hands on one of these gadgets and let them do the hard work for you...

Weber BBQ Beeper Digital Thermometer
Precision is the one thing you come to expect from Weber products, and the beeper digital thermometer does nothing to harm that reputation.
In a similar way to the Outdoor Chef Radio Wave Meat Checker, a probe is inserted into the meat which sends a signal to a remote unit. The remote unit on the Weber clips to your belt or waistband, and beeps when it reaches the temperature you set.

Outdoor Chef Gourmet Radio Wave Meat Checker
The Radio Wave Meat Checker from Outdoor Chef is one of the cleverest barbecue gadgets on the market. Simply place the meat probe into your food once it's on the grill, and then connect to the base unit.
As the meat cooks, the base unit relays details of temperature, time and cooking level to the hand held unit - which you are holding whilst sipping a refreshing drink in your favourite garden chair.
When the meat has reached the temperature or level you require, take it off the grill. The hand held unit works up to 30 metres away. You will wonder how you ever barbecued without it.

Grillpro Deluxe Digital Thermofork
The Grillpro Digital Thermofork is a slightly different - but no less innovative - barbecue thermometer option. The Digi Fork comes with a pre-programmed menu, so all you need to do is input which meat you are cooking and how you would like it cooked.
Keep the Digi Fork inserted in the meat as it cooks, and when it is done to your liking you will here the thermometer beep. It's a great little tool - with the advantage that it can be used as a regular barbecue fork even when you don't require a thermometer.
